南宋建炎年间，金兵南下，名将韩世忠率军于太湖阻击。敌众我寡，战事胶着。

During the Jianyan era of the Southern Song Dynasty, Jin troops invaded the south. Famous general Han Shizhong led his army to intercept them at Lake Tai. Outnumbered, the battle reached a stalemate.

苏州百姓为劳军，特制一种形似木工“榫头”的糕点，暗含“定榫（胜）”之意，并秘密将破敌计策夹于糕中送入军营。

To support the troops, the people of Suzhou made a special pastry shaped like a carpenter's "tenon" (榫), which phonetically implies "certain victory" (定胜). They secretly hid a military strategy inside the pastry and sent it to the camp.

韩世忠得计，大破金军。此后，这道承载着家国情怀与市井智慧的点心流传开来，被后人尊称为“定胜糕”。

Following the secret plan, Han Shizhong decisively defeated the enemy. Since then, this pastry, carrying both patriotism and folk wisdom, has been passed down and respectfully called "Dingsheng Gao" (Victory Cake).
